Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
I woke up this morning to another rainy day (surprise), so I slipped on Avery’s extra raincoat and ventured out back to Granville Island. Yesterday my friend from university, Pauline, messaged me saying she was in Vancouver as well. We were lucky enough to meet up in Spain three years ago, so it’s been quite some time since we’ve seen each other properly and I was so excited to find out she is here!

AND she came with a surprise: our friend Jason was with her! (Yay more friends!) I haven’t seen him in years either so it was definitely a welcome addition to the day. They were travelling with their friends William and Karolan, who I know through the grapevine of our university residence.
The five of us sat down for a beer at the Granville Island Brewery, and ending up chatting and catching up for a long time. Lots of travel stories and banter. It’s always lovely when you meet up with old friends and it feels exactly the same. I hadn’t eaten much yet by this point in the day, so my one beer went straight to my head.
Lister Residence friends.
Drinking at noon on a Thursday.
… déjà vu?

We wandered around Granville for a bit before stopping into the market and getting lunch. Pauline and I couldn’t stop talking the whole time about travelling, since she just got back from seeing a lot of the places I’m wanting to go this trip. We were almost tripping over each other, excitedly trying to say everything we could in the short period of time we had together. Alas it had to end (no amount of time is enough with old friends) so I gave out a round of hugs and hopped on the bus back to Kitsilano.
Avery had booked appointments for us to get our nails done, which was such a treat and so relaxing. I almost fell asleep in the chair as the lady massaged my feet. A couple hours and some fresh nails later, Avery and I headed home for a little dinner that her roommate Maggie planned with us and their friend Kristina. We ate a healthy meal (everything Avery and Maggie cook is just beyond healthy) and visited for hours, quiet piano music playing in the background.
I can barely keep my eyes open tonight.
