Location: Seattle, Washington, USA
We woke up earlier today than we had the whole trip, as we had so much ground to cover for our last long haul. We grabbed a coffee and drove out of Brookings as the sun rose over the ocean, turning the sky a beautiful dusty pink.

Katisse drove, I was in the passenger seat pointing out a bunch of last second pull outs we could stop at along the coast, and Alex was in the back navigating. We listened to podcasts, drank way more than our fair share of coffee and stopped occasionally to walk along beaches or up to lookout points along cliffs- all with gorgeous views of the Pacific.

I was really happy to see the coast, and glad we had so much time along it because we didn’t drive the California coast yesterday. I didn’t really clue into that fact until today and was rather disappointed about it, to be honest. We took a route that was faster to get to the redwoods before dark, which I was so fixated on I didn’t realize we missed so much of the coast. They were worth every second though. I’d take forests over the beach any day. I guess I’ll have to come back for that part of the road another time!
We also made an impromptu stop in the town of Tillamook, which I thought was just a brand of ice cream. Turns out there’s an entire town and they have a giant creamery. I was very excited since I usually only get this ice cream in small doses when I make my way up to Alaska! It was such a treat to run up to the counter (like the small child I am deep down) and try a bunch of flavours I had never even heard of!

We made it to Seattle late in the evening without any hitches, where we met up with Robert (Alex’s husband) and Matt (Katisse’s boyfriend). We are lucky enough to have Alex and Rob put us up for the weekend in their new home in Seattle, which I was so looking forward to seeing. I’ve heard lots about Seattle from Alex the past few days, and am happy to have a weekend to explore!
