Savanna: I am heading to Scotland today! It’s been over a year since Meaghan and I have really seen each other. I.e. we’re completely overdo for some shenanigans. She’s been working in The Netherlands as a Happiness Manager (yep you read that right) for the past year, while I’ve been working away back home as Definitely Not a Happiness Manager.

A few things led to this trip:

1) I wanted to visit Meaghan while she was living overseas, and now that her time there is coming to an end I figured it would be an awesome last hurrah to go somewhere we’d missed on our last trip.

2) I took up medieval combat as a hobby last summer and the International Medieval Combat Federation World Championships is taking place in Perth at Scone Palace. Turns out that 80% of team Canada are friends of mine from The Company of the White Wolf, so I decided to go as a support this year. (I’m not quite up to snuff to actually compete yet!)

3) I’ve been aching to get out and travel again. There’s another long term trip in the pipes but this is hopefully gonna scratch the itch until I manage to get that sorted.

Alright cue the planes. Today I woke up at ass o’clock to fly to Vancouver, rush around the airport to fly to Chicago where I ate some really hipster kale salad and wrote most of this post, and now I’m waiting for my plane to Edinburgh. It will be 7 am local time when I arrive so a new day!

Meaghan is meeting me on Saturday evening in Perth, so until then this blog will only consist of my extreme enthusiasm. But rest assured I will be demanding Meaghan’s input the very moment we see each other. I AM SO EXCITED!
