Location: Taipei, Taiwan
I thought after such a late night I would end up sleeping in, but I think my excitement just keeps getting me up early, even with no plans. Danny, Caro, Oliver and I went out to get a traditional Taiwanese breakfast, which consisted of a bowl of soy milk, long donut sticks (reminiscent of a churro without the sugar) and thin folded omelettes. The line was long and the place was packed with locals, so we knew it was going to be good. Then again it’s been said that Taiwanese people love lines- if they see a line they’ll just hop in, even if they don’t know what it’s for because people must be waiting for something good! The food was well worth it. We visited for awhile, swapping stories and sipping our soy milk.

We came back to the hostel, and I had to buckle down and do some life admin. Time to book some new adventures! I sat in the common room for a long time, chatting with lots of people, catching up on blogging and doing some research. The sky darkened and it started to rain, so I decided an afternoon in would be the ticket today. (I’ve finished almost everything I wanted to in Taipei anyway).
For like five days Caro has been wanting a particular picture of herself on the street, so we ventured out to grab some dinner and hunt for the right place for the photo. Good lord she was committed to it! She basically hopped around really close to traffic while I took snaps and tried to make sure neither of us got run over! We laughed a lot and ended up with a great shot so it was all worth it.

I spent the last bit of the evening visiting with Helena, Zach, Danny, Jessica, Ben, Jack and Caro- a little bit sad that I wasn’t going to be seeing them every day anymore. I kind of forgot that along with the incredible blessing of meeting new people on trips, you also have to deal with the heartbreak of constantly saying goodbye.
It’s my last night in Taipei, and I have a bit of a pit in my stomach. As much as I’m excited for the next stop, Taipei blew my expectations out of the water and I’ve met some really great people. I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up back here at some point. I really love it.

P.S. OH RIGHT ANOTHER THING I KEEP FORGETTING TO WRITE ABOUT.
When I first got here I heard like pretty loud ice cream truck music playing outside that lasted for so long and I was so confused. I ran outside to see what was going on and it turns out that the GARBAGE TRUCK PLAYS ICE CREAM TRUCK MUSIC. As soon as that song starts playing every single resident scurries out of their house and throws their trash in the truck as it rolls slowly down the street. If you hear this song be prepared for the onslaught of people that flood out of their houses and businesses. I laugh every time I see it!
