Location: San Francisco, California, USA

We had big plans to start the day by exploring around Palo Alto and Stanford Campus, as Alex used to live here and is an alumni at the university. We headed over to one of her favourite brunch places, Hobee’s, for some fuel and apparently the best blueberry coffee cake around. Anyone who knows anything at all about me knows I can’t turn down cake for breakfast. (See 20% of all old blog posts for proof). Unfortunately during breakfast Kat came down with a migraine and we rushed her home to get her some medication and some sleep.

Not wanting to stray too far from Kat, Alex and I headed to a mall nearby for a little bit of shopping. There was a few things I hadn’t packed for this trip since I couldn’t find the right stuff in Whitehorse, so a giant California mall sounded like a good place to start hunting! We had a great time walking around in the sunshine, catching up just us two and shopping for the afternoon.

Later in the afternoon Alex and I came home and Kat was feeling a bit better, so we ordered some sushi for dinner and cuddled up in the living room to watch some British baking shows. Just the kind of quiet night a headachy girl needs!

A couple weeks ago was Katisse’s birthday, and in the total blustery rush of preparing for this trip I forgot to wish her a happy birthday on the day and I decided today I would make up for it! I found a card earlier at the mall and we had picked up a pack of Sprinkles Cupcakes (an American favourite). We divided them all up and ate picnic style on the living room floor while watching more baking shows late into the evening.

Tomorrow we are headed into downtown San Francisco and I can’t wait!

I’m so ready.
