Silky Love

Location: San Francisco, California, USA

We collectively decided to sleep in this morning, taking advantage of the comfy sheets, the warm night air and the fact we didn’t have much to do today other than drive to our next destination. We packed our bags slowly and cleaned up the apartment before strolling into town for some locally roasted JT coffee. For the first time ever I tried nitrogenated iced coffee, which was silky smooth and creamy without any of the acidity of regular coffee. Seriously I plan on hunting down nitro coffee everywhere possible. If you have a chance to try it, just do it.

The heat was almost unbearable, so with the AC on full blast we peeled out of Joshua Tree and headed north towards San Francisco! We listened to a lot of scientific podcasts today, and I fell asleep a couple of times. I swear that’s not a comment on how interesting the podcasts were I was just sleepy! This trip has been so incredibly relaxing so far but we haven’t had a long sleep up until last night and my body is still playing a bit of catch up.

The joshua trees thinned out and the sand turned into soil as we entered lush farmland. Before I knew it we had reached San Juan De Bautista, a small town we had planned to stop in for Mexican food based on Alex’s recommendation. They brought my food out decorated like a cat and to be completely honest? The child in me was pretty pleased. There was also a small wedding reception taking place in the garden behind the restaurant and I spent a lot of time craning my neck trying to get a glimpse of the bride. (Is that the child or adult in me??) No such luck!

We piled back into the car for the last bit of driving to a friends currently uninhabited apartment just outside San Francisco. The apartment is lavishly decorated and bright, and I’m looking forward to having coffee on the balcony in the morning.

I am also looking forward to another long sleep tonight, as it sounds like we have a lot of walking planned for tomorrow!

Stay tuned!
