Meag: I woke up earlier this morning so that we could go for breakfast at Alexander’s since we didn’t go last night. As soon as I woke up I briefly saw across the straight before another storm cloud rolled in. Hello Morocco! I’m so glad I got a quick glimpse. I’ll be back to get a better look one day soon. Alex and his family live about 45 minutes down the big hill and close to the sea. His four kids were adorable, ranging in age from 2 to 9. After breakfast I was treated to some craft lessons from Lila before I had to leave for the bus station.
Aunt Sally dropped me at the bus station in Estepona and made me promise to immediately buy myself some lemon and honey, and to “get better quick because you’re going to cold countries now!” It was a really lovely visit and I already can’t wait to go back.
The majority of my day was spent in transit – first from Estepona to Malaga by bus, then from Malaga to Barcelona by train. As usual with travel days, there isn’t much to say. What I do have to say though is that I love the train. Seats are so comfy and I like to watch the countryside go by. A lot of what I saw today looked to be hilly and full of olive trees.

Sav: After yet another night of coughing up lungs, I finally woke up feeling a bit better. I got this powder medication yesterday that tastes HORRIBLE but seems to do the job. I am so happy to be on the rise.
Po, Adam, Ellie, and a few other girls from the hostel and I all went to grab waffles at the same hipster place we went to yesterday, since it was so amazing. I ate the chicken and waffles, which never seems to disappoint no matter where I get it. The six of us drank Cortados and talked quite a bit about dodgeball, a subject that comes up repeatedly when Po and I are together. Not that I’m complaining – anyone who is willing to listen is going to get an earful from both of us! We love it!
Po, Adam and I decided to go check out the Picasso Museum, while the other girls went over to Park Guell. Museums are free on Sundays, however the line-up was ridiculously long for Picasso. Who waits that many hours to save a few dollars?! Instead we meandered through the Gothic Quarter over to the history museum and spent the afternoon there. The museum was interesting but so haphazard and didn’t seem to have a theme so we all left feeling a little disoriented and confused! I enjoyed seeing the old building, and fossilized plants.
We got sangria and paella after this, at a nearby restaurant recommended by the hostel. Paella seems to be the most popular dish in Spain by far, which is awesome because it’s usually cheap and tasty.
And then! GUESS WHAT?! Reunification part 2! YES. Meaghan checked in to the hostel and I greeted her with a big hug and a bottle of wine. The only appropriate present for this momentous occasion.
M: I’m not sure what I was happier about – the Savanna hug or the bottle of wine. Just kidding, it was definitely Savanna! The only better thing she could have greeted me with was more Swiss chocolate. I was a very happy camper.
