Location: Budapest, Hungary
Sav: Well. We might have admitted it last time we were in Budapest, but now it’s official. We are addicted to Cirkusz. Normally I am all for trying new food and seeing new places but every morning we wake up, kind of look at each other with this knowing look before we even say good morning and end up with this unspoken Cirkusz invitation. To which the answer is so obviously yes.
So as you might have guessed from that rant: we went to Cirkusz this morning for breakfast. Today we brought along a new fiend we made last night, Shivani. We spent a really long time there, drinking Cortados, eating eggs benny and of course, Turkish eggs. Seriously. Prepare yourselves friends and family I am going to be attempting to make you Turkish eggs when I get home and it’s going to be a process. We talked a lot of about studying abroad and the benefits of living in Europe.
Meag: Today was probably the first day of our trip when I felt actually cold. It poured all day and for some reason I thought my down jacket was my best option. Why? I do not know. It was soaked very quickly. Sav doesn’t have a rain jacket and has a knack for breaking umbrellas. And with all the walking in our phone-replacement hunt, we were wet and cold very quickly. But that’s ok! There is no snow and it’s mid-November so a chilly day is a-ok with me.
S: I feel sometimes like this really invincible Yukoner in regards to the weather, like I can handle anything if it’s warmer than negative 50! But then it rains and I don’t own a rain jacket and it’s like my brain just falls out of my head and I can’t comprehend what’s happening. Why is this not snow? Where’s the snow? Why is this snow wet? Snow snow snow.
Next, the hunt for a phone replacement was on. I agonized over all the different options as we went from store to store, and we finally ended up at a mall on the west end. There are no Apple stores here in Hungary (go figure!), and everyone here had a hard time answering my questions so I finally decided that an iPod touch would do the trick.
M: Tonight was an easy night in. We joined the family dinner of penne with bacon Alfredo sauce then hung out with Adam and Dominic, who we met here a couple of days ago. My older brother Matt’s episode of Murdoch Mysteries was online so I got all cozy and tuned in to watch that while Sav hung out with hostellers. Every time Matt came on screen I was so excited! He does an awesome turn of the century medical student, in case you were wondering.
Budapest has a knack for exhausting us, so after Matt’s episode was done I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore.
S: After 8:30 it really quiets down and anyone left hanging about the hostel is usually great to chat with, so Adam and Dom and I spent the next couple hours hanging out. I followed Meaghans suit eventually, as she is right- Budapest does have a knack for being exhausting.
