S: Today was a big travel day! Yay everyone’s favourite! Just kidding it wasn’t the worst… we just woke up from our 12 hour wifi-less ferry ride and then subsequently had to catch a 4 hour train and then another hour train to make it to…

NAPLES, ITALY!

We are so excited to be here! We just couldn’t quite muster up excitement until we got to the hostel and showered and got our gears in order. We’ve heard nothing but rave reviews about the pizza though so that was helping our state a little bit. When does pizza not help your mind state though? I think Meaghan was in a slightly better mood than I was – which was great because two grumpy travellers is not a recipe for success.

We made it to the hostel and cleaned up finally! We have a few friends staying in the city which was really exciting. We got to meet up with Richard who we met in Galway, as well as Anthony and John who we met in Budapest. It was awesome to catch up with them – we have been really loving how people come into our travels at random intervals and how often you cross over with the people you like.

M: It was very nice to finally arrive in Naples. And it is HOT. About +27 when we arrived and I couldn’t be happier about this. One of our first stops is going to be buying sunscreen.

S: We are excited to go exploring tomorrow! We’ve mostly planned day trips out to major things… so stay tuned for the adventure.

PS: odd story time. I went to the bathroom on the train and a man pushed a religious button at me with a sticker-back before I went in. We spent a long time gesturing wildly before I figured out he wanted me to stick it to part of the train where I was sitting… I think. Honestly I thought I would be able to understand a slight bit of Italian but they might as well be using sign language because it took me 5 full minutes to understand that this button was also a sticker. Also props to this guy for taking so long to explain that to someone who is clearly a foreigner…
