Sav: NO TIME TO SAY HELLO! GOODBYE! I’M LATE I’M LATE I’M LATE! We had a very wonderful day. My song will make sense in a paragraph or two, so stay tuned.
We started the day off with going back to Cirkusz… Again. We are addicted to Turkish eggs, it’s a problem, we’ve acknowledged it. After this we made our way over to the market to take another look around. We slowly meandered through the market while Meaghan fawned over Hungarian leather purses and I looked for postcards. By the time we had finished there it was time for us to jump down the rabbit hole…

Meaghan: …and into an escape room! I had never done one before and didn’t know what to expect. We chose the “Alice in Wonderland” themed room, and it was amazing! The lady explained a couple things about the locks then said “Have fun, bye!” and we started hunting around for the first clue. The room was actually pretty creepy, they did a really great job. The decorations and the sounds coming from the radio made me jump out of my skin a couple times. Looking back on that first key, it seems so easy compared to the last ones. The clues were so hard! We really had to think outside the box. Some of the trickiest clues were the math and chess ones, because the links between things were not intuitive.
We’re learning a lot about ourselves and each other on this trip. One of the things we learned today is that I refuse to be the first one into a dark room. So Savanna and I have a deal – I kill spiders, she goes into dark rooms. My end of the bargain is pretty good, all I have to do is kill bugs. But her’s might have an axe murderer on the other side. It’s a fair trade, right?
S: Right. Fair trade. So the room was really cool, we were in there just the two of us which is apparently much more difficult. It would have been nice to have 5 people but it was a fairly snap decision to go. The room was really well done, but I was taken aback by the creepiness of it all. I didn’t think it was going to be scary! I’m just imagining the crazy nightmares I’ll have from being locked in an Alice and Wonderland themed room… Anyway the lady said we did a decent job, we were only 3 clues away from escaping! Which isn’t so bad considering only 20% of people get out. We’ll have to try out another room in the next country!
Speaking of which we are leaving tomorrow and honestly, it’s really hard. This has been the favourite stop for both of us so far and it’s really frustrating to imagine leaving so soon. I could spend the rest of my trip here and not regret a thing. I know I’ll be happy to move forward but I am already concocting plans in my head on how I can return to Budapest in the future. It certainly helps that our next destination is so exciting, and that Maddie is coming with us!
We decided to grab some Indian food after this and it was one of the best dinners we’ve had so far. We ordered so much food and then promptly ate every bite of it. Meaghan was saying how lucky we’ve generally been with food, and how surprised she is that mostly everything we eat has been incredible.

Gotta say I do not disagree. Eating anything we want, whenever we want, has been a highlight of this whole experience.
