M: We packed up our stuff in the hostel and headed out to find food with Kelly after Gordy’s Great Belfast Pub Crawl. Last night we were surprisingly unable to find cake to celebrate our fake birthday anywhere at 1 am, so we had some after breakfast.
Kelly dropped us off at the bus station and we took off for Letterkenny, on the way to Downings Bay for the Mooathon. The afternoon involved Savanna giving me a lot of “where are you taking me” looks. This continued and became vocal when we arrived in Downings Bay and Savanna commented that I had brought her to the “Watson Lake of Ireland”. This place is adorable. Everyone has been very helpful and kind when I ask for directions throughout the whole trip, and Downings Bay is following this trend too. We waited in the pub next to the store after the store owner called us a cab (once he was done chuckling about my lack of planning of course), because he also owns the pub. Conveniently, the person who owns the B&B also owns the cab company so they came right over and picked us up. The lady here at the B&B laughs A LOT and we’re not completely getting her jokes, but she’s very nice.
It is nice to be staying in a B&B rather than a hostel with 10 other people in a room. That being said, Savanna just came out of the bathroom and said “so here are a couple fun things about the shower…”
Savanna’s coming up with some creative cheers for when I run by her and I’m getting ready for the Mooathon tomorrow. Cows are moo-ing lullabies right outside our window.
S: 1) The signs in this town are in Gaelic only. 2) I cannot understand the accent this far north- apparently there is a latitudinal limit to my understanding of people. 3) the cows mooing RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WINDOW scared me half to death on the first Moo. 4) people keep joking about me running the half marathon too and I’m like “HAHAHA. No.” 5) this place is actually quite beautiful and I’m happy we’re here, I wouldn’t have thought to come up this far and I’m really glad we did!
