Location: Cork, Ireland
M: we stayed in the first hostel (Abbey Court) of the trip and wow was it colourful! All the walls were covered in bright colours with paintings of celebrities, historical figures and eclectic graffiti. (S: it was a total maze though! No joke it was like 5 up and down and around stories of walls so covered in art it was hard to look at!!) The free guided tour took us around to Dublin Castle, Christchurch Cathedral, Temple Bar, Trinity College and Stephen’s Park. It was pretty quick but gave us a lot to think about for when we come back to Dublin in a little bit!
S: The tour guide was this local Irish guy with a beard and a great accent! He had the driest humour it made the whole thing super funny! Also it was not quick it was like 2.5 hours!! My feet on those cobblestones were having a grand old time…
M: And then we had doughnuts so beautiful that I almost didn’t want to eat them. SO GOOD. We will be back for sure.

S: We met a couple awesome friendly people on the tour, one girl who came and got the doughnuts with us after, and it totally made me realize we are gonna meet a million people. Like I know everyone tells you that but until it actually happens it doesn’t quite click. Also on another note…
M: It turns out we need to be booking hostels more than 1 night in advance! Go figure! Lesson learned…now we have the rest of our Irish hostels booked. We are in Cork now after an endless bus ride.
S: But the ride was totally worth it! We got to pass through Kilkenny and Waterford and a couple cute towns along the way that would have been worth trips all their own. We had a couple old Irish guys help us with directions to Oscars Hostel and then we adventured out and found this little fish and chips place called ‘The Fish Wife’ that had awesome student fish and chip deals. Some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had in my life… And I’ve tried quite a few! I told Meags we might have to come back to try the swordfish….

M: Sadly we only have one night here in Cork (due to our wonderful book-one-day-at-a-time plan we were using) so we’re heading out tomorrow evening. It seems like a great little town with even better accents.
